How will my confidentiality be protected?
In adherence with the Research Ethics Division of UBC Office of Research Services, we would like to assure you that any information you provide will be kept strictly confidential. To protect your privacy, biological samples will be identified only by a research code, which will not contain any personally identifying information.
This study has been reviewed and approved by the research ethics boards at the University of British Columbia, BC Children’s & Women’s Hospital, and Health Canada.
Will I be informed of the study results?
Participants in the study will be offered a free summary of their personal results and a summary of overall project findings if they wish to have them. At the end of the study, participants will also be invited to an optional group discussion with the study investigators. Please note that the study will take two years to complete. Results will not be available before the summer of 2008.
